Unit will not turn on.
Make sure unit is plugged in. Make sure cover is properly seated.
There is nothing on the display.
Check outlet or power source.
The display works but the roaster won't start.
There is a safety interlock that is included on your gourmet coffee roaster. The roasting chamber and cover must be properly placed before the roast cycle will turn on. The roast cycle will not activate if either of these componentsare out of position. Re-align cover and chamber to activate the roaster.

Roasting times are inconsistent.
From time to time your household voltage may vary, this will proportionately change roast characteristics.
All beans are not created equal. Some batches of raw beans contain more moisture and require more time to roast. Beans from some countries roast differently from others.
Decaffeinated beans take less time to roast than regular unroasted beans.
Trial and error is the rule of thumb. When roasting a new variety of bean follow it through the cycle noting the time it took to get it to your desired roast. Use your roasting journal to chart your progress.
Make sure you fill the roasting chamber exactly to the fill line. Overfilling or underfilling changes the roast time.

Mid way through a cycle smoke appears to be coming out of the bean roaster.
The rubber seals were improperly installed or missing. It is advised that you clean the screen after every use.
The unit speeds up with five minutes left in the cycle. This condition is normal.
The roaster automatically shifts to a 5-minute “cool down” period at the end of every roast cycle.
After running the coffee beans through a maximum cycle the beans aren't as dark as I would prefer.
Your bean roster is equipped with an option to add up to 5 minutes to the roast time within each roast cycle. Note that the time can only be added during the roast cycle and that the maximum setting on the display will never exceed 30 minutes.
There is an excessive amount of chaff blowing out of the roaster near the top.
The rubber seals (in the cover) were improperly installed or missing.

Unit is running but auger is not spinning.
In any case, prior to inspection of a stalled auger condition, shut down the unit and remove plug from power source. Allow to cool before handling the machine.
Roasting chamber is not properly seated.
The auger, thrust washer, and, or, drive screw are improperly installed.
An internal problem with the drive system has occurred. Return the unit to an authorized repair center.
A bean is jammed under the auger inside the roasting chamber. When cool, dump out the beans and twist the auger to dislodge any jammed beans.
Beans are not circulating even though auger is spinning.
The roasting chamber is excessively dirty and needs to be cleaned.
The roasting chamber has been cleaned but was not properly dried. Do not roast beans in a vessel that has not been properly dried because the water acts as a drag on the beans not allowing them to circulate.

I pushed the buttons while the unit was running and nothing happens.
There are only buttons that are active when the unit is running. These are the UP arrow (during the roast mode) and the COOL button.
I roasted my beans and they are too dark.
Depending on your taste the beans that you have just roasted may not be burnt. Give them a try and you may be surprised.
Decrease roasting time.
Make sure you are roasting the recommended amount of beans: (Make sure you are filling the roasting chamber to the FILL LINE. This is 5 oz. to 5.5 oz. by weight).
I want to manually stop the roasting process when I see the beans change to a desired color.
If you are monitoring your roast cycle and see your desired color, simply press the cool button to stop the roasting cycle. The cool down cycle will begin and will end the roasting process. The machine will shut off automatically at the end of the cooling cycle.
